With a little help from our friends...(Krista's Group)

The weather was so beautiful this morning, we just had to have our morning gathering outside! In the spirit of bilingualism, we used both the English and Spanish yoga pose names. We did: rock the baby (bebe) pose, cat/cow(gato/vaca), lion's pose (leon), downward dog (pero). We also practiced some breathing techniques and rounded everything out with, 'OMMM...it's Thursday!'

Eddie and Natalie visited the school today--it was very exciting to spend time with our new friends!

In the classroom, the play silks were very popular--they were used as skirts, head wraps, baby slings, eye pillows and more... It was a reminder that simple materials and toys often spark the imagination and set the stage for dramatic play more than elaborate (read: expensive) materials and toys.

Our friend Annie was missing her mommy quite a bit today, and I was touched by how empathetic and kind the children were with her. At one point, we were all outside and Annie was sitting on my lap. She had just had some tears and was feeling quite tender. Anika observed us from across the patio and then pulled one of the little chairs over and put it down right in front of us. She sat down, grabbed one of Annie's hands, and in the kindest voice, said, "It's okay, sometimes I feel sad, too."
